It’s been a busy couple of months here at Peter Moody & Company. In February we bought the Priestley’s shop at 36 Bootham and started renovation works to create our new flagship city centre office.
We were in our original offices at 3 New Street for nearly 4 years and lovely as they were we had simply outgrown them.
The biggest debate was over what to do with the “Priestley” tiles below the two large windows. They weren’t in great condition but were put there over 40 years ago when the shop was Priestley the butchers. To many York residents they are as iconic as the “Bile Beans” sign at the end of Lord Mayor’s Walk.
In the end we decided to restore the original tiles and frame them within a custom made wooden mount that covered over the cracked modern black ones that surrounded them.
We’ve been delighted with the public’s response with passers by regularly commenting on them as well as our statement chandelier and floor to ceiling map of York!
The formal opening of the newly re-named “Priestley House” took place at the end of May with over 60 York professionals attending an evening drinks party that went well on into the night!
We look forward to welcoming clients both old and new at our new home over the coming months.
